This quote means that you can be great at something but you have to be kind. When you are a so called gentleman you are being kind. Some acts of being a kind person are when you open the door for someone that can't do it by themselves. Another act could be when you pick up the trash that is just on the floor. You decide that you want to pick it up.  You are being kind to others and the world. If you are a rude person that dosent pick up after themselves they are chosing the wrong. That is not right and is not an act of kindness. we all should do what is best for us and the others around us. It is better to be know as a kind person than a selfish not kind person .
